Technical connection

Keep UniFi private. Connect through the Runner.

The Runner is the bridge between your local UniFi Access controller and Musterly. It runs on an always-on machine that can reach the controller, then maintains an outbound secure connection to your workspace.

No inbound firewall rule

Your UniFi controller does not need to be exposed to the public internet.

Guided setup

A clear path from workspace to live site.

The Setup Centre keeps the business owner and installer on the same checklist. Complete it yourself, hand the connection to IT, or ask us to help.

01

Create your workspace

Create the organisation and add the first site you want to monitor.

02

Pair the Runner

Install the Runner on an always-on Windows or Linux machine that can reach UniFi Access.

03

Connect UniFi Access

Add the controller URL and a dedicated read-capable API token.

04

Commission the site

Classify doors and validate a real credential event in your live workspace.

Start on your timetable

Time to involve IT. Then a full product trial.

Create your workspace now, prepare the connection, and start evaluating Musterly when your first site is ready.

Stage 01

Up to 30 days for setup

Arrange server access, involve IT and prepare the UniFi connector before using the product trial.

Stage 02

14 days from first sync

Your trial begins at the first successful UniFi sync, or when the setup window ends— whichever comes first.

Questions, answered

The detail your team will ask for.

From the UniFi connection to rollout and visitor workflows. If you need help with your environment, we can plan the setup with you.

Ask about your setup
Does Musterly integrate with UniFi Access?+

Yes. The Musterly Runner reads door events from UniFi Access on your local network and sends the data needed by your workspace over an outbound secure connection. Your controller stays private and your existing readers remain in place.

How do roll calls work?+

A roll call starts with a fixed snapshot of the people currently shown in Who's In. Authorised users account for people directly, see who is still missing, and save the completed result. Anyone who badges in after the snapshot requires a fresh roll call.

Is the Who's In list a headcount?+

No. It is the latest known state from received badge events. Tailgating, missed badge-outs, an offline connection, or an incorrectly classified door can affect the list. Use it as the starting point for a roll call and follow your site’s emergency procedure.

What does visitor management include?+

You can keep a visitor directory, schedule visits, notify hosts and guests, run self-service kiosks, capture photos, collect document acknowledgements or signatures, and use QR codes for supported access provisioning. Different visitor types can follow different workflows.

Do I need new hardware?+

You do not need new door readers or controllers. You do need an always-on Windows or Linux machine—such as a server, NAS or dedicated PC—that can reach UniFi Access and run the Musterly Runner.

How does the trial work?+

Create a workspace without a sales call. You then have up to 30 days to connect UniFi Access. The 14-day product trial begins on the first successful UniFi sync, or when that setup window ends—whichever happens first.

Will you support other access control systems?+

UniFi Access is the first integration, with more planned based on demand. If you use a different system, request setup help and let us know — we're prioritising based on what customers actually need.
